“The Whiteout” is a blog post about a breathtaking adventure that took place in the clouds a year ago. Despite the cold weather, the author and their wife ventured out on a hike and experienced a serene and moody atmosphere, reminding us to take risks and explore the unknown.
On Saturday, I had a few candidates in mind for my mountain adventure, but in the end, I decided to stick with my number one choice from the day before. I packed my backpack with everything I would need for the day, including snacks, water, and warm layers. The weather was chilly and cloudy, but I was determined to make the most of my day.
It was a really lazy Saturday morning where I didn’t plan anything. But I decided that I had to grab the opportunity and do at least a little hike to the local mountain.
For the past three years, we have been working from home, and every day, we would look out our windows and see the huge mountain range in the distance. It was a constant reminder of a challenge waiting to be conquered, a peak that we longed to reach.
The Bavarian Alps are known for their breathtaking natural beauty, and summertime is the perfect season to fully experience all the region has to offer. From blooming flowers to epic vistas, stunning lakes and towering mountains, a day spent exploring the Bavarian Alps is sure to be a memorable one.

This hike was an experience in many terms: The views, the late spring in the mountains, that we did the trail as planned, all those opportunities and maybe found a location worth returning! And the confirmation that the best photos of a trail need not be from the summit but from anywhere on the trail!
