As with each month, I find myself grappling with the task of writing a recap. However, I know that the memories of July will resonate well in my mind, since they primarily revolve around our holiday experiences in the Black Forest and cycling adventures on my mountain bike.
Activities
The month’s activities began (or continued) with a significant highlight: our holidays in the Black Forest. The time spent there was filled with plenty of hiking, exploring, and capturing beautiful photographs. I have been diligently blogging about our experiences, and there’s still more to come, which keeps the memories fresh and engaging.
After returning home, we ventured to a nearby mountain area that had been on our radar for some time. We had talked about visiting, but it was never fully committed to our plans. Surprisingly, it pleasantly exceeded our expectations. The view was fantastic, and I also had the chance to scout the area as a potential mountain biking trail. Interestingly, this was one of those rare moments where I intentionally left my camera at home – a unique occurrence for me, I must admit.
The following week led me on a mountain hiking adventure with a few colleagues. This kind of hiking is something I rarely do, but it turned out to be a nice event with plenty of conversation and a steady (okay very fast) pace along the trails. Exploring together while having nice discussions was nice experience. During this hike, I also discovered some great spots ideal for capturing moody photos, particularly when the clouds hang low in the sky. I really hope to come back to those spots when the conditions are similar.
As the temperatures warmed up with the arrival of summer, I took my mountain bike for two loops. They were both not over-exciting or huge – lasting between maybe two and three hours each – but they provided just the right amount of exercise and enjoyment for a great feeling. I find myself considering the possibility of tackling some longer loops this year, which could offer new challenges and the possibility to explore other regions.
Photography
The bulk of my photography this month took place during our holiday in the Black Forest. I still have plenty of photos to edit and share, as the region was a visual treasure trove, brimming with lush greenery and stunning waterfalls. On one rainy day, we even embraced the atmospheric, dark, and foggy conditions that I’ve often admired in photographs from this region. I have high hopes that some of my captures turn out well when I get around to editing them! But even if they don’t turn out well – I have the most precious thing: my memories!
Blogs
Similar to my photography efforts, all my blog posts during July also revolved around our wonderful vacations in the Black Forest. I found that time was scarce, along with the energy needed to produce additional content. I also did not invest much focus on video creation during this period, especially since I didn’t capture relevant footage while on vacation. At times, I simply did not feel inspired to record.
